Directed by Joel David Moore, Youth in Oregon centers on Raymond (Frost/Nixon’s Frank Langella), a 79-year-old who decides to travel to Oregon to be euthanized. Accompanying Raymond on his journey is his wine loving wife Estelle (Mary Kay Place) and dutiful son-in-law Brian (Billy Crudup). Christina Applegate, seen last year in Bad Moms, co-stars as Raymond’s daughter.
During their three thousand mile journey to Oregon, Brian attempts to change Raymond’s mind about his decision to end his life, but that task is easier said than done.
With a career that began in 1965, Langella’s cinematic highlights include collaborations with director Mel Brooks (The Twelve Chairs), John Badham (the 1979 version of Dracula), and Ivan Reitman (Dave). Actor Joel David Moore, who also helmed the Richard Dreyfuss headlined Killing Winston Jones, directs the film.
