What a night on America’s Got Talent. Our AGT Quarterfinal 3 Recap begins with Kenan Thompson holding the biggest power of the night: the Live Golden Buzzer.
With Simon Cowell away from the judges’ table, Thompson joined Howie Mandel, Mel B and Sofia Vergara for the third live quarterfinal of America’s Got Talent Season 21.
Eleven acts returned to the stage hoping to stay alive in the competition, but only one could avoid America’s vote entirely.
That honor went to 14-year-old singer Lai Noelle.
Already the recipient of Cowell’s Golden Buzzer during the auditions, Noelle delivered another standout performance and became the latest act to earn an AGT Live Golden Buzzer.
Lai Noelle earns another Golden Buzzer
Lai Noelle entered the America’s Got Talent Season 21 live shows with some enormous expectations.
After earning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer during her audition, the young singer came into AGT Quarterfinals 2026 with something to prove that her big moment was only the beginning.
Noelle performed Your Song by Elton John, and the judges clearly believed she delivered.
Mel B praised how polished the young singer already sounds, while Sofia Vergara said Noelle has the presence of a much more established artist. Howie Mandel was equally impressed by the maturity of her performance. Then Kenan Thompson made his decision. He asked Vergara to hit the Golden Buzzer, sending the confetti flying and giving Noelle a direct ticket to the finals.
The Lai Noelle Golden Buzzer moment puts her alongside Hundred Fingers and Nene Royal, who previously earned Live Golden Buzzers during the quarterfinal rounds.
Kameron Marshall turns the audience into part of the magic
Before Noelle claimed the AGT Golden Buzzer, Kameron Marshall came awfully close to creating his own big moment with Thompson.
The magician built his live-show performance around a card trick that did something especially ambitious: It involved practically everybody.
Kenan Thompson joined Marshall onstage, while members of the audience followed along with their own cards. By the end of the routine, the selections began lining up in ways that left Thompson visibly stunned.
The crowd wanted him to hit the Golden Buzzer. Thompson resisted. Still, he called the performance incredible, while Howie Mandel offered the lone bit of criticism by suggesting the routine could have moved a little faster.
Dogs, danger and contortion keep AGT Quarterfinal 3 unpredictable
One of the great things about America’s Got Talent is that a singer can be followed by a contortionist, who can be followed by acrobatic dogs, and somehow that feels completely normal.
Maria delivered one of the evening’s most visually wild performances. Her contortion routine, performed to Just a Girl by No Doubt, included impossible-looking bends, rings of fire and movements that had the judges wondering how some of it was physically possible.
Then came Acro Canine Crew, featuring Daiquiri, Chardonnay, Twinkie and Mango. The dogs took their act to the beach for a playful lifeguard-themed performance, earning a standing ovation and plenty of love from the judges.
Things got considerably more dangerous when Herwan Legaillard returned. Legaillard combined sword swallowing, fire and aerial work in an attempt to raise the stakes from the audition.
Kenan Thompson and Sofia Vergara were impressed, although Mel B wanted even more danger at this stage of the competition.
Isaac Atkins and Elsie face tough judging
Singer Isaac Atkins, who previously received Mel B’s Golden Buzzer, performed Way Down We Go by KALEO.
Mel certainly appeared happy with her earlier decision, but Howie Mandel and Kenan Thompson pushed Atkins to show even more range. Sofia Vergara was much more enthusiastic, especially considering how little experience Atkins has performing on stages this large.
Elsie also took a big swing with House of the Rising Sun.
Her interpretation earned strong praise from Vergara, Thompson and Mel, although Mandel once again found himself playing the role of the tougher judge. At least Vergara was there to call him out for it.
Daniel Alvarez gets Howie Mandel’s approval
As our AGT Quarterfinal 3 Recap moves into comedy, there is nowhere to hide when a joke does not land.
That was not much of a problem for Daniel Alvarez.
After previously receiving advice from Howie Mandel during the Judges’ Callback portion of the competition, Alvarez returned with material about his life in a wheelchair and even worked his fellow America’s Got Talent contestants into the set. Mandel was clearly proud of the result. The other judges were also impressed, with Kenan Thompson offering especially big praise for Alvarez’s performance.
Poet Guy Kelton Jones I brought another very different kind of storytelling to the America’s Got Talent stage, blending spoken-word poetry with singing.
His performance even had the audience briefly calling for Thompson to use the Golden Buzzer. He held onto it. For the moment.
Pynk Beard closes AGT Quarterfinal 3 on a high note
Pynk Beard finished AGT Quarterfinal 3 with another original song.
Already a successful songwriter behind the scenes, Pynk Beard has been using America’s Got Talent as an opportunity to finally become the person standing at the front of the stage.
After seeing his audition song Mine, Lord Willing climb the streaming charts, he returned with the original track On My Hood.
The judges responded enthusiastically, with Kenan Thompson saying the performance essentially blew the roof off the building.
Not a bad way to close a night when nearly everybody is fighting for votes.
America decides who survives AGT Quarterfinals 2026
Lai Noelle does not have to worry about the results.
Her AGT Golden Buzzer sends her directly to the America’s Got Talent finals.
Everyone else has a much more stressful night ahead.
Of the remaining 10 acts, only three will survive America’s vote and advance to the semifinal.
The other seven will see their AGT journeys come to an end when the results are revealed Wednesday night.
After a quarterfinal filled with singers, comedy, magic, dogs, poetry, aerialists and enough dangerous objects to make an insurance company nervous, America has quite a decision to make.
Our AGT Quarterfinal 3 Recap may have ended with Lai Noelle safely headed to the finals, but for everyone else, the biggest moment of the week is still to come.
