On this week’s episode of CinemAddicts, we review director Terrence Malick’s feature Knight of Cups and the Gerard Butler action flick London Has Fallen, a sequel to the successful 2013 flick Olympus Has Fallen.
London Has Fallen, as posted in a review this week on Hollywood Outbreak, is an engaging action film that, as long as you turn your brain off and enjoy the visceral thrill of it, is worth a look. Butler has carved out a solid franchise hero as Secret Service Agent Mike Banning, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if another installment is in the offing (as long as the movie does well).
One of cinema’s most celebrated directors, Terrence Malick’s movie output, though sparse over the past 40 years, has yielded an excellent body of work (Badlands, The New World, and the highly underrated To The Wonder). With Knight of Cups, Malick reteams with The New World actor Christian Bale in the story of a disillusioned Hollywood screenwriter (Bale). Blessed with a stellar ensemble cast (Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Teresa Palmer, Brian Dennehy), the picture once again features Malick’s visually lyrical style and features an extensive use of voiceover.
