Zoe Kazan, seen last year in the first rate thriller The Monster, stars in the romantic dramedy The Big Sick. The picture, directed by Michael Showalter, is based on the real life relationship between Kumail Nanjiani and scribe Emily V. Gordon (she and Nanjiani penned the script). Holly Hunter and Ray Romano co-star as Emily’s parents.
“When I read the script I thought it was so good and not like other things I had read” said Kazan. “I don’t know whether it’s a process of knowing yourself better as you get older or whether it’s because the film industry is changing so much. For the last few years I’ve gotten much picker about what I do and what I audition for . . . and I was so taken with the script (for The Big Sick) and the story.”
