The cast has come together for the upcoming Rampage adaptation for the big screen. Dwayne Johnson will star in the film as primatologist Davis Okoye, who works to find a cure after a rogue genetic experiment turns several alpha predators into raging creatures. Collider reports that Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.J. Byrne and Marley Shelton are also part of the cast.
According to Deadline, Palmstar Media has optioned a pair of Mary Doria Russell books based upon legendary gunman Doc Holliday. The books will reportedly serve as the base for a new film based on Holliday with Jeremy Renner set to star in the central role.
The cast continues to grow for the upcoming Bad Moms sequel, A Bad Moms Christmas. Deadline reports Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Peter Gallagher have all joined the cast, with the three actresses appearing as the mothers of the three central characters.
Brian DePalma will direct the upcoming thriller Domino, starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Christina Hendricks. Coster-Waldau will play a Danish cop who goes rogue and joins with a fellow officer (Hendricks) to track down a killer after his partner is murdered in Europe while being targeted by terrorists. However, the pair are unaware that the assailant is a CIA operative who is on the trail of an ISIS cell behind the attacks.
Director Antoine Fuqua will reunite with actor Denzel Washington in the sequel to The Equalizer. The film is now on schedule for a Sept. 14, 2018 arrival.
Actor Tyrese Gibson has posted on Instagram that he’ll be reprising one of his past film roles, appearing in Baby Boy: Coming of Age. It is not known as of yet if director John Singleton will return. Gibson starred in the original film as a young bike mechanic with two children who clashes with his girlfriend’s ex.
The futuristic romance Zoe just had a major talent infusion to its cast. Christina Aguilera, Theo James, Rashida Jones and Miranda Otto have joined the film, which stars Ewan McGregor and Lea Seydoux. Deadline reports the film centers on two colleagues who work at a revolutionary lab where they are designing technology to improve and perfect romantic relationships, but their work uncovers discoveries more profound than ever expected.
Melissa McCarthy has signed on for the raunchy puppet film The Happytime Murders. Brian Henson will direct the film, with the movie set to take place in a Los Angeles underworld where humans and puppets co-exist. McCarthy is a human detective paired with a puppet partner who must work together to figure out who has been killing cast members of a classic puppet show.
Brie Larson, recently seen in Free Fire, will star in the feature film adaptation of Jeannette Walls‘ best-selling memoir The Glass Castle. Larson will play the central role of a woman with a dysfunctional and very colorful family. Woody Harrelson will play her alcoholic father, while Naomi Watts stars as her painter mother. The film is expected to premiere on Aug. 11.
Variety reports that Clive Owen, Tom Felton, George MacKay and Devon Terrell have all joined the Daisy Ridley-starring film Ophelia. The film starts principle photography later this month with Claire McCarthy directing the romantic tragedy.
The Mindy Project‘s Garret Dillahunt has joined the cast of the Steve McQueen-directed heist thriller Widows. Deadline reports that the film centers on four armed robbers who are killed during a heist, with their widows coming together to try to finish the job. Viola Davis, Robert Duvall, Colin Farrell and Liam Neeson have also been cast in the film.
David Spade and Nat Faxon will star in the Happy Madison film Who Do You Think Would Win? Deadline reports that the movie centers on the playful debate between two friends about whose father would win in a fight, but the ante gets upped when one of the dads takes the bet seriously. Bridgit Mendler, Joey Bragg, Matt Shively and Jackie Sandler have also been cast.
