The Mexico trip was supposed to give the group a chance to reset. Instead, Danny‘s drinking drama remains the issue nobody can move past on The Valley.
Janet is still dealing with the fallout from speaking up about Danny‘s behavior. As a result, the divide between her and Nia only gets deeper. Janet is willing to own how she approached the situation. However, she is not backing away from her concerns. Nia, meanwhile, seems less upset about Janet‘s delivery than about anyone questioning Danny at all.
Michelle tries to put the real issue into words. In her view, Janet feels pressured to apologize for things Danny did. Furthermore, while not every cast member says it directly, there is clearly a larger concern about how Danny behaves when he drinks.
Eventually, the conversation becomes too much for Janet. She breaks down and needs to step away. She admits the conflict has stirred up difficult feelings from her past. That helps explain why everything hit her so hard. Unfortunately, the group is so locked into taking sides that little room remains for anyone to actually hear her.
A Beach Day Brings a Temporary Truce
For a little while, the tension eases.
The group heads to the beach, where Nia makes a kind gesture by bringing coconuts to Janet and Michelle. Meanwhile, Kristen and Michelle let loose. Janet continues embracing her bisexuality, and the women enjoy themselves without another massive blowup.
Jesse is still irritated by Michelle commenting on his affection with Lacy. Compared to everything else happening, though, it barely registers. For one afternoon, the group looks like they might finally coexist.
Of course, that peace never lasts long on The Valley.
Danny Hears Danny’s Drinking Drama Is Still the Topic
Once Nia fills Danny in on the day’s conversations, his mood changes immediately.
To be fair, a confusing dynamic exists within the group. Some cast members tell Danny they have no issue with his drinking. Then they discuss concerns behind his back. Still, the problem does not appear to be alcohol alone. It is the behavior that comes with it.
Danny gets defensive when he feels judged. That reaction often makes things worse. After all, the group is not just talking about a few drinks at dinner. They are reacting to moments when he becomes angry, overly physical, or dismissive of Nia and everyone around him.
Additionally, the cast seems increasingly split. Some people genuinely want to work through their friendship problems. Others are simply tired of the Bookos’ drama. Kristen gets caught in the middle when it becomes clear she has defended Danny and Nia to others. Ironically, her own relationship with them is not especially close.
Zack’s Birthday Party Goes Off the Rails
Then it is time for Zack‘s birthday, which comes with a party-bus theme that is exactly as chaotic as it sounds.
The cast gets dressed up, and drinks start flowing. Tom Schwartz arrives looking like a gothic circus performer. Meanwhile, Jasmine and Melissa bring plenty of decorations for the bus. Zack gets ready for a night that should have been all about him.
Instead, Brittany and Jesse reopen their own old wounds.
Brittany wants Jesse to apologize for suggesting she and Jax were working against Danny and Nia. Jesse insists he is still bothered by how Brittany treated Lacy during a previous fight. For her part, Lacy is frustrated that he keeps bringing up old drama. Privately, though, she understands why he is upset.
Before anyone can settle that argument, disaster strikes. Zack hits his head on a street sign while riding on the upper level of the bus. He is taken to get stitches. Consequently, the group is shaken and forced to pivot from party mode to concern.
Danny’s Drinking Drama Takes Over the Gay Bar
Zack eventually returns with a bandage wrapped around his head. The group tries to keep celebrating at a gay bar.
But Danny is already spiraling, and Danny‘s drinking drama takes center stage once again.
Nia warns him to be mindful of how he dances. Earlier in the trip, concerns had surfaced about making people uncomfortable. Danny takes her warning as another attack. Rather than hearing what she is trying to say, he begins lashing out at everyone around him.
When Michelle gets up on the bar and starts having fun, Danny loudly turns the word “uncomfortable” back on her. He claims she is making him uncomfortable. Clearly, though, he is more interested in mocking the people who raised concerns than resolving anything.
Ultimately, the whole night becomes another example of why the group is frustrated. Danny keeps insisting he is unfairly targeted. Meanwhile, his own choices keep fueling the conversation.
Zack’s Birthday Ends With an Awkward Silence
By the time the group gets back on the party bus, Danny‘s mood has only worsened.
It is now technically his birthday too. Instead of enjoying the moment, however, he is angry, defensive and convinced everyone is against him. Nia tries to calm him down. Sadly, her efforts only make him more irritated.
Then comes one of the most uncomfortable moments of the night. Danny asks everyone to go around and say what they love about the birthday boy.
Nobody responds.
It is a brutal ending to a night that was supposed to celebrate Zack. At the same time, it says everything about where this friend group stands. Danny wants reassurance. The others want accountability. Until those two things can exist in the same conversation, this conflict is not going anywhere.
