Netflix is officially taking Untamed out of Yosemite and into a whole new kind of danger.
In fact, Netflix sets season 2 of the hit mystery thriller in Hawaii, shifting the story into an entirely new landscape. The new season will unfold inside Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, where special agent Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana, is pulled into another disturbing case in a place that’s as beautiful as it is unpredictable.
And this time, the setting is not just a backdrop. It’s part of the threat.
If season 1 was about quiet terror hiding in the woods, season 2 looks like it’s about something far more explosive.
Literally.

The shift in location isn’t just a scenic upgrade. Netflix says Turner will be entering unfamiliar territory, and the showrunners are leaning into that.
Co showrunners and executive producers Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith say they’re excited to explore a park with a completely different identity and culture, while also placing Turner in a new emotional headspace away from the place where he felt most in control.
And that could mean trouble.
Because when Turner isn’t grounded, he’s dangerous. And the cases get messier.
Untamed season 1 was a massive Netflix hit
Netflix clearly isn’t wasting time expanding the franchise.
Season 1 of Untamed premiered on July 17, 2025 and quickly shot to number one on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list. It stayed in the top 10 for seven straight weeks, proving it wasn’t just a one week trending moment.
According to Netflix’s engagement report, the series pulled in 92.8 million views, making it the third most watched title on the platform during the second half of 2025.
