The first night of the Battles brought high energy and even higher stakes to The Voice Season 28. The episode aired Monday, Oct. 13. Artists from all four teams  coached by Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg  faced off in a night filled with powerful duets, emotional performances, and bold coaching moves. Each coach brought in a superstar advisor to help their teams. Lizzo joined Team Snoop, Lewis Capaldi teamed up with Niall, Kelsea Ballerini supported Michael, and Nick Jonas stepped in for Reba. A new twist raised the stakes even higher: artists chose their own battle partners while the coaches selected the songs. With the Steal and Save in play, one performance could change everything.

Tears and High Notes on The Voice Battles Night One as Yoshihanaa Wins an Emotional Opener

On The Voice Battles Night One, Lizzo encouraged the duo to push their vocals further. Her advice set the stage for one of the night’s standout moments. Yoshihanaa delivered a smooth and emotional performance. Natalia impressed with her precision and stunning range. The coaches praised both singers, and Snoop grew emotional as he faced a tough decision. It became one of the most memorable performances of The Voice Battles Night One.

 Aaron Nichols and Daron Lameek Bring Fire and Soul on The Voice Battles Night One

Team: Reba
Song: “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” by Elvin Bishop
On The Voice Battles Night One, Nick Jonas encouraged both singers to lean into their powerhouse vocals, resulting in a gritty, soulful duet that immediately stood out. Their contrasting tones created undeniable chemistry, and Reba compared their connection to “peanut butter and jelly.” It was another standout moment from The Voice Battles Night One.

Jazz McKenzie and Trinity Deliver a Showstopping Performance

Song: “Virtual Insanity” by Jamiroquai
During The Voice Battles Night One, Kelsea Ballerini encouraged the duo to simply have fun and they delivered. Their connection and control turned the performance into one of the standout battles of the night. After a three-way steal attempt, Michael used his Save, locking in another dramatic moment on The Voice Battles Night One.

Dustin Dale Gaspard and Revel Day Face Off in Soulful Showdown

Team: Niall
Song: “Too Sweet” by Hozier
Lewis Capaldi encouraged both artists to channel the song’s intensity on The Voice Battles Night One, and they delivered a performance packed with grit and heart. Dustin’s textured rasp and Revel’s smooth control drew praise from the coaches, making it one of the more soulful moments of the episode. In the end, Dustin advanced while Revel’s journey came to an end on The Voice Battles Night One.

Kenny Iko’s Falsetto Steals the Spotlight

Kanard and Kenny turned in one of the smoothest R&B duets of the night, with Lizzo encouraging them to flip their strengths. Kenny’s falsetto runs and commanding stage presence pushed him to the top.

Rob Cole Edges Out Austin Gilbert in Country Crowd-Pleaser

The duet channeled the spirit of the original track, with Austin’s energy and Rob’s rich tone winning over the crowd. The coaches praised their natural chemistry, but Rob ultimately took the win.
