Prepare for a calendar event, housing enthusiasts! HGTV is rolling out a very fresh and primal property prime time this summer, capped off with a pair of new series episodes that put the wild in Zillow Gone Wild. Placed at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Friday, July 18, both episodes promise incredible sights with lots of the unexpected. Don’t think you’re going to get a cavalcade of run-of-the-mill houses. Expect everything from homes that could star in a horror movie to places you’d love to get lost in.
First up, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, everyone’s favorite design guru, David Bromstad, returns to assist fortunate lottery winners in transforming their newfound affluence into fabulous residences on My Lottery Dream Home. David travels across the country, from the sunny shores of Florida to the bright lights of Las Vegas, and even to Arizona and New Jersey, to find homes that check every single box on his clients’ ultimate wish lists. No matter how grand or specific their aspirations, David is on a mission to deliver not just luxury, but a transformation of their wildest home dreams into reality.
In the season premiere, we’re introduced to a Boston couple who’ve beaten the odds not once but twice! After winning $1 million in 2006, they snagged an even bigger prize: a colossal $25 million from a $50 scratch ticket 17 years later. With this windfall, they plan to do something that would make any parent proud: buy homes for their adult children. David will help these lucky soon-to-be homeowners find the perfect family pad in Atlanta, Georgia.
At 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, get ready for your mind to be blown with the return of Zillow Gone Wild. The show is back, inspired by the massively popular Instagram account. Comedian and actor Jack McBrayer is once again here to guide us through the internet’s most bizarre and fantastical property listings.
Jack isn’t just observing images; he’s immersing himself in the narrative of these unconventional abodes, engaging with the remarkable individuals who inhabit them, and revealing the extraordinary histories and ludicrous architectures that make each property utterly nonpareil. From off-the-chart decor to domiciles that seem to have sprung from the pages of a fairy tale, each episode ranks the properties on their “wildness,” anointing one as the king (or queen) of crazy houses.
This season guarantees even greater riches and finds that are downright eccentric, including an entire old western town, purchased by an intrepid family in Colorado, and, yes, a real-life Lego castle, right in Orlando, Florida!
The season opens with a madcap dash around the country, starting in York, Pennsylvania, to investigate a house that’s a giant shoe. From there, Jack goes to Taos, New Mexico, to talk with the folks who live in an eco-house made of—believe it or not—bottles, tires, and cans. Then (as if that weren’t enough), he treks to Ridgefield, Connecticut, to tour a gothic mansion with secret passageways, a famous composer as its owner, and walls that are literally made of patent leather.
