With the latest hostilities between Israel and Hamas about to reach the 18-month mark, Israeli activist Hen Mazzig has taken his own approach toward combating the rise in antisemitism that has accompanied the fighting in Gaza. Mazzig, who co-founded the Tel Aviv Institute in 2019, is trying to reach out to people as a social media influencer in an attempt to break the perceived link between Israel’s actions and the world’s Jewish population. He’s just unveiled a new digital series called And They’re Jewishwith Hen Mazzig featuring stories about several well-known Jewish personalities, including Debra Messing, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Mayim Bialik. With the debut episode now streaming, Mazzig talked to us about how and why this project came together.
