Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles spotlights the making of Fiddler On The Roof, one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals. “Matchmaker” and “If I Were A Rich Man” were just two of the songs featured in the musical, and in 1971 its film adaptation became the highest grossing film of the year.
The original production of Fiddler On The Roof won several Tonys, including for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Actor (Zero Mostel). John Williams received an Oscar for his score of the 1971 feature (Oswald Morris also received an Academy Award for Best Cinematography).
Original cast member Austin Pendleton, Joel Grey, Chaim Topol, Harvey Fierstein, lyricist Sheldon Hanick, director Norman Jewison, and producer Hal Prince are just some of the interviewees featured in the documentary.
Directed by Max Lewkowicz (Underfire: The Untold Story of Pfc. Tony Vaccaro), Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles hits theaters August 23 via Roadside Attractions and Samuel Goldwyn Films.
