Director J.C. Chandor has not made a film since 2014’s critically acclaimed A Most Violent Year, but now he’s back in full force with an A-list cast in Triple Frontier. Co-written by Chandor and Zero Dark Thirty scribe Mark Boal, the narrative centers on former Special Forces operatives (Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal) who attempt to orchestrate a heist in South America. Taking money from a drug cartel obviously seems like risky business, but these men are desperate to land what they believe is a much deserved payday. Isaac delivered one of his finest performances in A Most Violent Year, and it will be great to see him reunite with Chandor.
The compelling trailer immediately pulls us into the high stakes actions of these highly skilled men, and since Chandor’s body of work is excellent (other credits include All Is Lost and Margin Call), we’re guessing that Triple Frontier will be must see cinema.
