charlie-hunnam-anarchy_lCurrently in limited release and available via VOD, DEADFALL is a tight indie crime drama that succeeds (for the most part) in blending a little romance with some thrills and delivers on the promise of what, back in the day, would be considered a swell matinee movie. Directed by STEFAN RUZOWITZKY THE COUNTERFEITERS) from a script by first-timer ZACH DEAN, the cast includes such fan favorites as ERIC BANA, CHARLIE HUNNAM, OLIVIA WILDE, SISSY SPACEK and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON. Probably best know these days for his work on the popular FX series SONS OF ANARCHY, Brit actor CHARLIE HUNNAM once again uses a flawless American accent in DEADFALL. During the recent press conference to promote the film, HUNNAM credited working long hours on the series for being able to pass as a Yank on screen. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

A Goth Inspired Halloween Classic: ‘What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?’

what_ever_happened_to_baby_janeOn this day in 1962, Warner Brothers released one of the greatest goth/camp thrillers ever with WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? Coming out of mothballs retirement to star, legendary rivals BETTE DAVIS and JOAN CRAWFORD revitalized their careers and generated a lot of tabloid ink with notorious tales of infighting and backbiting. Despite their antics (both on and off screen) the public’s re-interest in their careers opened the door for other iconic actresses ‘of a certain age’ to return to work. Produced and directed by ROBERT ALDRICH and based on the eerie novel by HENRY FARRELL, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? has probably inspired more Halloween costumes than almost any spooky film in history.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? is available now on DVD and Blu-ray

On This Day In Movies: A Spooky Holiday Gets Reborn With ‘Halloween’

halloweenOn this day in 1978 (34 years ago!!), a little company called Compass International released a little movie called HALLOWEEN and holiday horror history was made. Set in a small mid-western town on Halloween night, the tale of a rampant psychopathic killer (who may or may not be the incarnation of the boogie-man) started a parade of teen slasher films that continues to this day. The brainchild of writer/director JOHN CARPENTER, the HALLOWEEN cast included JAMIE LEE CURTIS, DONALD PLEASENCE, P.J. SOLES and TONY MORAN. Despite several sequels, a remake  and countless copy-cats, HALLOWEEN remains a fright-fest classic.

The original HALLOWEEN is available now on DVD

Kevin Bacon No Fan Of Los Angeles’ Industry Town Way Of Life

the-following-fox-season-1-2012-posterJust as actress KYRA SEDGWICK ankles her popular crime-drama series, THE CLOSER, hubby KEVIN BACON is prepping for the debut of his new crime drama series, THE FOLLOWING. As a burnt-out detective recalled into service to track down a brilliant serial-killer, BACON is as good as he’s ever been and the series pilot is, hands down, one of the best in recent memory.
Set to debut on Fox-TV in January, THE FOLLOWING is currently in production.
Long time residents of the east coast, SEDGWICK and BACON have gotten used to occasionally re-locating for work in TV and film. But, during an interview we did a few years ago, BACON made it pretty clear that Los Angeles was not one of his desired destinations for any length of time. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
