‘The World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap’ Hits Xbox One

Hungary based developed NeocoreGames has announced that their RPG infused, tower defense title The World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap is now available on Xbox One. Extra benefits have been set for Xbox Live Gold members, as they can download the game for free this month as part of the Games With Gold program.

“I’m very proud of the final game and the fine work the team at Neocore Games did on Deathtrap,” said NeocoreGames producer Zoltán Pozsonyi. “Our goal was to push the tower defense genre forward with a unique gameplay mechanic that allows players to build a deadly maze of traps and towers while controlling a character direction for the traditional top-down view of an action-RPG.”

A huge advantage for Deathtrap is it’s a title that has a built in universe thanks to The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing franchise, and the game’s loyal fanbase will probably hop on and give this new title a shot. Gamers can build over 25 traps and perform over 150 upgrades on their weapons. Deathtrap also features multiplayer options (one person defends and the other attacks) as well ability to specialize in three different classes.

One of the strongest aspects of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing titles are their intricately woven skill trees, and hopefully Deathtrap’s upgrade system will reach similar creative heights. Check out the trailer to The World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap below!

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II For PC Announced

Van Helsing

Since it’s the week of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a plethora of announcements have dominated the gaming landscape.

Case in point – NeocoreGames has just announced that they are working on The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II for PC, even though the first installment was recently released via Steam on Windows. Nevertheless, this expedient news should please fans of the game (the closest I’ve come to Van Helsing’s world, however, was watching that guilty pleasure Hugh Jackman feature from years back).

Neocore Games narrative designer Viktor Juhasz offered up this comment regarding the sequel: “In the first game it all seemed so simple. Defeat the mad scientist, free the land and ride into the sunset, but sometimes the fall of a villain only opens the way to more sinister foes.”

The continuing adventures of the double fisted, weapon wielding creature killer will also be graced by his ghostly sidekick, Lady Katarina as they travel through the darkened terrain of Borgova and the forbidden wilderness.

Here’s the launch trailer of the first game:
