‘S.O.A.’ Star Charlie Hunnam Credits TV Work For Big Screen American Accent

charlie-hunnam-anarchy_lCurrently in limited release and available via VOD, DEADFALL is a tight indie crime drama that succeeds (for the most part) in blending a little romance with some thrills and delivers on the promise of what, back in the day, would be considered a swell matinee movie. Directed by STEFAN RUZOWITZKY THE COUNTERFEITERS) from a script by first-timer ZACH DEAN, the cast includes such fan favorites as ERIC BANA, CHARLIE HUNNAM, OLIVIA WILDE, SISSY SPACEK and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON. Probably best know these days for his work on the popular FX series SONS OF ANARCHY, Brit actor CHARLIE HUNNAM once again uses a flawless American accent in DEADFALL. During the recent press conference to promote the film, HUNNAM credited working long hours on the series for being able to pass as a Yank on screen. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Olivia Wilde Brings The Heat To The Very Chilly Set Of ‘Deadfall’

deadfall_xlgOpening in limited release later this week, DEADFALL is a nifty little crime drama that manages to blend some romance with some thrills and delivers on the promise of a good adventure. Shot on location in Montreal, the frozen North was as frozen in real life as it looks on screen. During last week’s press conference to promote the film, OLIVIA WILDE joked (well, sort of joked) about working in an environment that truly put her to the test. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

DVD RELEASES 8/5/08

THE COUNTERFEITERS (Sony Pictures Classics  R  $28.96) Based on the true life story of SALOMON SOROWITSCH, an artist / counterfeiter arrested by the Nazis and tossed in a concentration camp. There, he’s forced into organizing a counterfeiting operation set up to help finance the war. Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction and nowhere is that evidenced better than in this little gem of a film.

GET SMART – SEASON ONE (HBO Home Video  NR  $24.98) Created by MEL BROOKS and BUCK HENRY, GET SMART was one of the funniest and most off-beat sitcoms of the sixties. DON ADAMS, BARBARA FELDON and ED PLATT were the comedy tri to be reckoned with. If you’ve only seen the recent big screen version of GET SMART, then you haven’t really seen GET SMART. My advice: Get GET SMART!

MISS CONCEPTION (First Look Studios  R  $24.98) HEATHER GRAHAM plays a woman so desperate to have a baby that she gets involved with all sorts of nonsensical riff-raff in an effort to beat her bilogical clock. Once upon a time, GRAHAM had so much promise…what happened?!? I wouldn’t buy this dvd with YOUR money…jus’ sayin’…

NIM’S ISLAND  (Fox Walden  PG  $29.98) JODIE FOSTER stars in this perfectly respectable adaptation of the best selling kid’s book. A famous author and an imaginative little girl join forces to save the day. This really is fun for the whole family.

ROGUE (Weinstein Company  R  $24.95) RADHA MITCHELL and MICHAEL VARTAN star in this better than average creature feature set in the Australian wetlands. Seems a rogue croc has put tourists at the top of the food chain and it boils down to a race against time to stop it. Director GREG McLEAN (WOLF CREEK) manages to inject a few scares in what could have been a yawn.
