Scott Baio Puts A New Twist To A Familiar Premise With ‘See Dad Run’

nick-at-nite-see-dad-runWhen David Hobbs, America’s favorite TV dad, finds his series canceled after ten years, he heads home to let his soap opera star wife go back to work while he takes care of the kids. Needless to say, life does not imitate art when it comes to the potential mine-field that is single dad parenting. This is the premise of SEE DAD RUN, Nick-at-Nite’s first scripted comedy series premiering tonight and starring TV favorite SCOTT BAIO.
A veteran of the popular ’80s sitcom CHARLES IN CHARGE, BAIO recently met with entertainment reporters at a Television Critics Association press conference and confessed that SEE DAD RUN owes, at least, a tip of the hat to some shows that came before it. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Expect An Out Of This World Season Finale For ‘The Big Bang Theory’

bbt-season-finaleAiring tonight on CBS, the fifth season finale of the hit sitcom THE BIG BANG THEORY includes a last-minute wedding and a trip to outer space. And, for good measure, an out-of-the-blue marriage proposal. Created by CHUCK LORRE, the series owes much of its popularity to the ensemble cast of JOHNNY GALECKI, JIM PARSONS, KALEY CUOCO, SIMON HELBERG and KUNAL NAYYAR.
As Howard Wolowitz, the nerdy mechanical engineer whose early behavior on the show was borderline skeevy, HELBERG has seen the character progress to being a lovable guy whose wedding is almost derailed by a mission to space. During a Television Critics Association press conference, HELBERG talked about how Wolowitz has evolved. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Hot in Cleveland (Wednesdays, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, TV Land) hasn’t even finished its first season yet, but TV Land has already given a green light to the series for a second go ‘round.

The channel announced late Wednesday that 20 new episodes of the hit sitcom have been ordered and the four stars of the show, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and uber hot, Betty White will all be returning for season two.

Production on the new episodes officially kicks off in October 2010.

GILLIAN JACOBS’ “SOLITARY” ROLE

Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta on the sitcom Community, has a small role in the big screen flick Solitary Man, starring Michael Douglas.

Jacobs, who is simply listed in the credits as “tall girl,” has to laugh about the irony of that handle considering she’s anything but a giant.

“I am five feet three and a half inches. By no one’s measure am I tall. That’s pretty funny,” she acknowledges.

OK, so it’s a cameo that required her to cut her hair and dye it black – hardly exciting. But, the chance to be in a pic with a superstar like Douglas, not to mention his notable co-stars, was too attractive to pass up.

“Yeah, that’s obviously why I did it,” she admits. “It was a great opportunity. I loved the script. It’s a tremendous cast: Susan Sarandon, Mary-Louise Parker, Jenna Fischer, Jesse Eisenberg, Danny DeVito…it’s an amazing cast. So I was happy to be un-credited girl with black hair.”

Solitary Man opens in theaters today.

Rob Lowe has joined the cast of Parks and Recreation to spice things up a bit, specifically for tonight’s season finale. And though Lowe is a talented dramatic actor, he has demonstrated his comic skills in movies like Austin Powers many times over – and now on this sitcom.

It may be a surprise to viewers that Lowe’s so funny, but not to his brother Chad Lowe, who has seen his brother kick serious butt making people laugh.
