As a fan of B-level genre driven fare, Blood Money is the type of film I’ll watch even if the actors were relatively unknown. One of the film’s selling points, however, is that the antagonist is John Cusack (Con Air, Say Anything) and co-stars Ellar Coltrane (Boyhood), Willa Fitzgerald (Scream: The TV Series) and Jacob Artist (Glee, Quantico) have also done distinguished work in their nascent careers.
Like such films as No Country for Old Men, Blood Money proves that discovering a stash of cash isn’t healthy for the greedy discoverer. Cusack is Miller, a white collar criminal whose fortune is stashed out in the wilderness. When three friends (Coltrane, Fitzgerald, Artist) discover the loot, they must survive Miller’s wrath and safely head back to society. Money, however, has a corrupting influence, and if Miller doesn’t hunt them down, greed may be their eventual downfall.
With a lean running time of 89 minutes, Blood Money has a promising enough premise and it’ll be interesting to see how these four actors rough it in the elements. Check out the trailer below and leave us a comment or two!
Blood Money opens in select theaters and On Demand October 13.
