All The Money In The World, director Ridley Scott’s film that centers on the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) hits Blu-ray and DVD April 10 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Michelle Williams co-stars as the teenager’s mother Gail with Mark Wahlberg playing John Paul Getty’s (Christopher Plummer) advisor.
Scott, one of cinema’s most ambitious filmmakers, replaced Kevin Spacey with Plummer after his first cut was finished. The director managed to reshoot Spacey’s scenes with Plummer and stay on course with the release date.
The movie contains eight deleted scenes, and three featurettes (“Ridley Scott: Crafting a Historical Thriller,” “Hostages to Fortune: The Cast,” and “Recast, Reshot, Reclaimed”).
Michelle Williams initially carved out as a regular on Dawson’s Creek, and her eventual journey through cinema has yielded her four Oscar nominations (most recently a Supporting Actress nod in Manchester by the Sea). Williams, who can also be seen opposite Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman, was also a big part of this year’s news with the last minute reshoots of All The Money In The World.
Williams, who plays Gail Harris (the mother of John Paul Getty III) in All The Money In The World, thought the movie may have been a “lost cause” after the Kevin Spacey sexual harassment news. Director Ridley Scott, armed with a talented cast and crew, leapt into action and hired Christopher Plummer replace Spacey as John Paul Getty.
Whether it’s more intimate stories (Matchstick Men, Someone To Watch Over Me) or epic driven fare (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator), Scott is a supreme storyteller, and in the clip below Williams talks about her admiration for the filmmaker:
All The Money In The World, co-starringMark Wahlberg, is now playing nationwide.
As news of Kevin Spacey’s sexual indiscretions surfaced, Ridley Scott knew he had a problem. The Academy Award-winning director had shot a new movie, All the Money in the World, with Spacey. But he realized that, in the current environment, releasing the movie with Spacey still in the lead role would leave the movie D.O.A. So Scott did the unthinkable — with less than three months before the film’s theatrical release, he reshot all of Spacey’s scenes, replacing him with screen legend Christopher Plummer. With the reshoots and the additional editing necessary, Scott somehow managed to finish the film on time, and when we spoke to him, Scott told us the finished product was worth all the additional effort.
Scott’s amazing accomplishment has not gone unnoticed by critics, who have given many accolades to the film and its new star, Plummer. All the Money in the World is playing in theaters now.
Seen this year in the hits Transformers: The Last Knight and Daddy’s Home 2, Mark Wahlberg finishes off 2017 by working with Ridley Scott, one of cinema’s most revered filmmakers. All The Money in the World is the true account of the kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson (Charlie Plummer). Working on a seven week window, Scott replaced Kevin Spacey’s scenes as J. Paul Getty with Christopher Plummer, with Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg also reshooting their respective scenes with Plummer!
“It’s an amazing true story,” said Wahlberg who plays CIA operative Fletcher Chace in the narrative. “The movie is a great thrill ride. What a suspenseful thriller (Ridley) has created. And it’s a true story and people are going to find it fascinating.

All The Money In The World opens December 25, 2017!
Ridley Scottis a cinematic master when it comes to directing epic narratives (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven), so it comes as no surprise that replacing Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World was a seamless transition. Scott’s impressive feat, however, was to cut Spacey’s scenes as John Paul Getty, reshoot them with the revered Plummer, and also have this film ready by its December 22nd release date!! Scott, who celebrates his 80th birthday today, also released Alien: Covenant earlier this year (he also executive produced Blade Runner 2049)!!
