Airing tonight on ABC, the season two winter finale of the popular nighttime soap REVENGE promises to live up to the expectations the series has been setting up for the past several months. A deliciously conceived potboiler centered on a young woman’s obsession with avenging the death of her father, the show is the brainchild of writer MICHAEL KELLEY (SWINGTOWN) and stars EMILY VAN CAMP, MADELINE STOWE, GABRIEL MANN and HENRY CZERNY. Probably best known for playing the virtuous girl-next-door type in such shows as EVERWOOD and BROTHERS & SISTERS, actress EMILY VAN CAMP seems an unlikely choice to play someone haunted by the past and capable of nefarious acts of vengeance but during an interview with us she admitted it’s been one of the most enjoyable jobs of her career.
Already available via VOD but opening in theaters today, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING is a video game style action movie that centers on a man who awakens in a hospital swearing revenge against the people responsible for the murder of his family. Short on story but long on rock-’em, sock-’em action, the film is number four in the familiar franchise. Co-written and directed by JOHN HYAMS, the cast includes DOLPH LUNDGREN, JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME, SCOTT ADKINS, KRISTOPHER VAN VARENBERG and MARIAH BONNER.
Twenty years after appearing in the first UNIVERSAL SOLDIER film and just three years after the previous installment, DOLPH LUNDGREN is no stranger to the kind of work the franchise calls for. During our interview last week, the action star talked about how he didn’t really want to participate in the last UNIVERSAL SOLDIER movie and how, until he got swayed by director HYAMS, he didn’t want to be involved in this one either. Continuing to take the box office by storm, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PT. 2 marks the end of the line for the franchise that spawned five feature films and gave cinematic life to author STEPHENIE MEYER’S series of young adult novels chronicling the lives and loves of an angsty high school girl romantically torn between a hunky vampire and a sensitive werewolf. As Bella Swan, the tortured heroine of the series, actress KRISTEN STEWART proved to be a fan favorite because she actually seemed to understand where the character was coming from. During the press conference to promote the film, STEWART admitted a kinship to Bella and confessed that, when shooting was over, there was only one souvenir she took with her.
