Snoop Takes On New Name And New Movie With ‘Reincarnated’

snoop-lion-tiff-2012In the new documentary REINCARNATED, music mogul SNOOP DOGG changes his name to SNOOP LION and travels to Jamaica to immerse himself in the Rastafarian culture. Along the way, he produces his first reggae album and gets in touch with his rasta roots. Clearly as in love with weed as much as he is with music, this doc spends as much time on the former as the latter as cameras follow SNOOP through his personal expedition.
Enjoying its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last week, the screening was followed by a well attended press conference at which SNOOP talked about the origin of his new moniker. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

Tonight Marks The Beginning Of The End For Showtime’s ‘Weeds’

weeds-season-8Returning tonight for its eighth and final season, the hit Showtime series WEEDS promises to reveal who got shot and who the shooter was in last season’s mind-blowing cliffhanger. From the beginning, this twisted comedy/drama about a pot-peddling family trying to beat the system has been a source of glib adult humor and from the episodes we’ve previewed, it’sgoing to be  business as usual this season. Not too long ago, we spoke with series co-star JUSTIN KIRK about his notorious masturbation monologue (from the first season) that remains the show’s most watched youtube moment. KIRK’S delivery of coming-of-age advice to his young nephew (played by ALEXANDER GOULD) remains a classic and he joked that he hopes it did a public service. Michael Chiklis Tries Something Entirely Different With ‘High School’

highschoolscansmAs the daffy school principal in the new stoner comedy HIGH SCHOOL, actor MICHAEL CHIKLIS takes a giant step away from Vic Mackey, the hard-as-nails cop he played in the hugely popular TV series THE SHIELD. It’s a welcome change-of-pace for the actor and one he was happy to embrace. We sat down with CHIKLIS last week and he reminded us that he cut his teeth on playing affable lightweight roles but his critically acclaimed work on THE SHIELD put him on the road to being typecast.
