Elizabeth Banks Thrilled To Join The ‘Man On A Ledge’

man-on-ledge-elizabeth-banks2Currently in theaters, MAN ON A LEDGE is a multi-tiered caper drama that involves so much more than its simple title indicates. Sure, there IS a man on a ledge but we quickly find out it’s just a diversion for several other events. Directed by ASGER LETH from a script by PABLO F. FENJVES, the cast includes SAM WORTHINGTON, ELIZABETH BANKS, JAIMIE BELL and ANTHONY MACKIE.
BANKS plays a police negotiator called in (by request, no less) to try and get the seemingly suicidal titular character back in the building. Shot on location, much of her action actually took place on a high-rise ledge many stories in the air. During our recent interview, she talked about her first experience doing wire-work. Next up for BANKS, she’ll be going from “out on a ledge” to “out on a limb” when the big-screen adaptation of SUZANNE COLLINS’ bestselling young adult series THE HUNGER GAMES opens in theaters in March. As we reported earlier this week, there’s been some on-line controversy by hard-core fans of the books over some of the casting in the films. SAM WORTHINGTON IS OUT ON THE “LEDGE” FOR THE MOVIEGOING “BLOKE”

MAN ON A LEDGE

Although he’ll probably never reach the same creative heights as, say, Benicio del Toro, Johnny Depp, or Robert Downey Jr., Sam Worthington doesn’t seem the kind of guy who’ll be outworked on the set.  During the interviews for Man on a Ledge, Worthington described his latest feature as a “good, entertaining popcorn movie.”

Worthington has his own personal goals as an actor, but with each role he definitely keeps his audience in mind.  “My primary reason is to give the bloke who works his ass off all day his sixteen dollars worth when he goes to the movies,” says Worthington.

GENESIS RODRIGUEZ TEAMS WITH WILL FERRELL IN ‘CASA DE MI PADRE’

MAN ON A LEDGE

In Man on a Ledge, newcomer Genesis Rodriguez plays Angie, a loyal woman who helps her boyfriend (Jamie Bell) steal a diamond from a shady businessman (Ed Harris).  Their clandestine operation is aimed to prove the innocence of the boyfriend’s ex-cop brother (Sam Worthington), who’s planted himself on a Manhattan ledge to serve as a diversion.

Rodriguez also has a co-starring role in Will Ferrell’s comedy Casa De Mi Padre (House of My Father), which centers on a rancher’s son (Ferrell) who falls in love with his brother’s (Diego Luna) fiancee (Rodriguez).  “It’s incredible,” says Rodriguez, when asked about Ferrell’s command of the Spanish language. “He can improvise in Spanish.  He learned on Rosetta Stone!  He would even say bad words.”
