‘Keith Richards: Under The Influence’ Paints A Brilliant Portrait Of A Dedicated Artist

keith_richards_under_the_influenceFresh from its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and currently streaming on Netflix, KEITH RICHARDS: UNDER THE INFLUENCE is a feature-length film that follows the legendary ROLLING STONES guitarist as he records his first solo album in over two decades. One of the original masters of rock ‘n’ roll, RICHARDS demonstrates all of his early musical influences, from R&B to country honky-tonk, on the just released CROSSEYED HEART, a collection of 15 songs guaranteed to please fans.

Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker MORGAN NEVILLE (TWENTY FEET FROM STARDOM), KEITH RICHARDS: UNDER THE INFLUENCE is a reflective, revealing and ultimately poignant portrait of a 71-year-old artist (who nobody thought would live beyond 40) still creating the music that has served him well for a lifetime.

At last week’s TIFF press conference, KEITH RICHARDS faced entertainment reporters to discuss the film and talked about the ‘organic’ development of the project. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

KEITH RICHARDS: UNDER THE INFLUENCE is currently streaming on Netflix. CROSSEYED HEART is available now wherever music is sold.

KEITH RICHARDS STILL REMEMBERS THE ONE-TWO (PUNCH)

Keith Richardson 15 years back

Keith Richards has still got it.  He may be a little slower in his two step but not with his left hook.

According to Spinner, reporter Markus Larsson allegedly got belted by Richards after sitting for a talk about his Life book tour in Paris.

Larsson was reportedly interviewing for Swedish publication Aftonbladets, but Richards remembers Larsson three years earlier when the journalist panned his band’s performance in Gothenburg.

Well, according to Larsson (according to Spinner), Richards stood, pushed the issue,  settled the disagreement, then said “You’re lucky to get out of here alive.”

We’ve yet to hear Richard‘s side of the issue, but his opinion of evaluators might be similar Jerry Lewis who reportedly said that a critic is as useful as a eunuch in a whorehouse.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT KEITH RICHARDS

Sometimes it’s not good to tell the whole truth.

Rolling Stones‘ co-founder and lead guitarist Keith Richards‘ new tell-all and then some book Life is #2 and climbing on Amazon.  Critically Praised for it’s candor, Disney suits think that just maybe it’s a bit too free-spirited for it’s G-rated audiences.

Having twice played Captain Teague in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films, the execs are more than a little concerned that their family audience would have issues with Richards again on the screen.

The book is liberally sprinkled with profanity, drug use and sex.  But Richards also teaches how to get safely high by using “high-quality drugs” in “moderation.”

Appears that Dopey will get edited out of Snow White.  Not that Richards cares.  He never has before.
