WILL JAMES FRANCO’S ‘FRANCO’ RETURN TO GENERAL HOSPITAL?

114James Franco is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood.  While he could easily score roles in films which are box office blockbusters, Franco instead stars in movies which are appealing to him, including Milk, Howl, and his latest film, 127 Hours, which is based on the true story of a mountain climber who gets stuck under a boulder and has to fight for survival.   This film should indeed earn Franco an Oscar nomination and many more accolades.

Recently, Franco stunned Hollywood when he decided to play a diabolical serial killer in the ABC daytime Soap, General HospitalFranco chose to appear on the soap because he is a big fan of the show and wanted to be a part of it.  Franco has done two stints on the show as the character, “Franco“, and his last departure was left open-ended for a possible return.  Hollywoodoutbreak.com caught up Franco while he was promoting 127 Hours, and asked him if a return to the beloved soap is in his future.  (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR BELOW TO HEAR JAMES FRANCO)

James Franco is set to receive the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award at next year’s Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

He will be honored for his compelling performance in Danny Boyle’s bio-drama, 127 Hours at the 26th edition of the Fest.

The movie is based on the true story of American mountain climber, Aron Ralston. Ralston became trapped after a boulder crushed and pinned his arm while canyoneering all alone in the Moab Desert in Utah. In case you don’t remember this story, Ralston eventually severed his own arm to escape and save his own life.

Franco has made interesting choices throughout his career going from big budgeted blockbusters like Spider-Man to intimate character pics like Milk. He even jumped into the soap opera world with a few guest spots recently on ABC’s daytime drama, General Hospital.

The Fest runs January 27th through February 6th, 2011 – Franco will be given the award on January 29th.
