Beauty and the Beast, which is currently this year’s highest grossing film, hits Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on June 6. Viewers who purchase the movie can watch the theatrical cut, the premiere cut with overture, and a sing-along version. Overtures are very rare these days in cinema, and it will be interesting to see how that’s seamlessly blended into the movie.

As expected, a ton of special features for the film are available. Emma Watson, who plays Belle in the film, hosts the a featurette (“The Women Behind Beauty and the Beast”) which spotlights several talented women who helped bring this transcendent tale to the silver screen. Director Bill Condon is also on hand to introduce the 10 minutes worth of deleted scenes and explain why they were each left off the final cut (one of the scene features Gaston, played by Luke Evans, attempting to woo Belle).

Also included in the special features includes the segment “Making a Moment with Celine Dion” which has the pop icon discussing the Beauty and the Beast song “How Does A Moment Last Forever.” The music video for “How Does A Moment Last Forever,” as well as the music video for Ariana Grande and John Legend’s version of “Beauty and the Beast,” is also featured in the collection.

Congrats are in order for Disney, who set a new U.S. Box Office record in 2016. According to Deadline, thanks to mega hits like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Zootopia, The Jungle Book, Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, Doctor Strange and Moana, the studio has reportedly accumulated $2.49 billion domestically, a new Hollywood record. The earnings grow to $4 billion when worldwide totals are factored in, and they still have Star Wars: Rogue One on the horizon.

There’s sad news to report as actress Margaret Whitton, best known as the money-hungry owner of the Cleveland Indians in the Major League franchise, has died at the age of 67 after a short battle with cancer. Whitton also appeared in The Secret of My Success, 9 1/2 Weeks and Man Without a Face.

One of the many highlights of D23 EXPO was the update of Captain America: Civil War given by producer Kevin Feige. Also on hand for the gathering were Civil War stars Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans.

Fans who attended the Anaheim, Ca. event had the privilege of seeing footage from the film, which included appearances from Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Crossbones (Frank Grillo) and Captain America’s occasional brother-in-arms Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Captain America: Civil War continues after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron as Steve Rogers (Evans) leads a new crew of Avengers in their continued fight in protecting humanity. After another international incident that involves Earth’s mightiest heroes results in collateral damage, the Avengers are now more accountable than ever before. Saying ‘Yes’ To The Call Was A No-Brainer For ‘Monsters, Inc.’ Star Billy Crystal

monsters_inc_ver5Almost a dozen years after its original theatrical release, Disney’s animated classic, MONSTERS INC., is returning to theaters this week for a limited run after being remastered and converted to digital 3D. One of the studio’s most popular and financially successful titles, the film was co-written and co-directed by PETE DOCTER and featured the voice talents of BILLY CRYSTAL, JOHN GOODMAN, JOHN RATZENBERGER, STEVE BUSCEMI, JAMES COBURN, BONNIE HUNT and JENNIFER TILLY. Flush with an abundance of crazy things that go bump in the night, the movie went on to inspire spin-offs and a huge amount of lucrative merchandising. A veteran stand-up comic turned accomplished actor, BILLY CRYSTAL delighted audiences as the voice of the one-eyed Mike Wazowski and when we interviewed him for the original release of the film, he talked about the call from Pixar honcho JOHN LASSETER that he just couldn’t refuse.
