Ellen Page Was “Super Surprised” With ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Role

The East (Fox Searchlight, CR: Myles Aronowitz)

Brit Marling (Another Earth) co-writes and stars in The East, a thriller about a former FBI agent whose new job at an intelligence firm leads her to infiltrating an organization that wages war on what they deem as corrupt corporations. Ellen Page, who co-stars in the film as one of the members of the group, says one of the reasons she joined the project was her love for Sound Of My Voice, a 2011 feature that was headlined by Brit Marling and directed by The East filmmaker Zal Batmanglij.

“Their passion and their creative drive is just palpable, and just infectious and contagious,” said Page.  “I just wanted to be a part of their work.”
