As Tony Stark and Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. has always been at the heart of the on-screen Avengers team. As it turns out, though, he was much, much more than that — he became legendary on the sets of his Marvel movies for being the films’ social coordinator, as he put together dozens of cast & crew events over the years. Avengers: Infinity War is still playing in theaters everywhere.
Solo: A Star Wars Story was #1 at the box office once again with $29.2 million, with Deadpool 2coming in a close second with $254 million. Even with its top status, Solo: A Star Wars Story has under performed (relative to previous Star Wars installments) with its current domestic take of $148 million. This weekend’s top 10:
Solo: A Star Wars Story – It’s a solid film but for some reason it just didn’t light the box office world on fire. $29.2 million.
Deadpool 2– It makes $23.3 million and proves the franchise continues to do brisk business.
Adrift – Shailene Woodley flick debuts with $11.5 million.
Avengers: Infinity War – Feature has collected over $642 million domestically. It takes in $10.3 million this weekend.
Book Club – Jane Fonda/Diane Keaton comedy makes $6.8 million.
Upgrade – Action thriller has a weak debut with $4.4 million.
Life of the Party – Melissa McCarthy comedy collects $3.4 million.
Breaking In – Gabrielle Union thriller, which has made over $41 million domestically, makes $2.8 million.
Action Point – Comedy makes $2.3 million.
Overboard – Remake of the Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell film makes $1.97 million.
Box Office numbers through Sunday places Solo: A Star Wars Story as the clear #1 with an $83.3 million debut, followed by Deadpool 2with $42.7 million. Here’s this weekend’s top 10:
Solo: A Star Wars Story – Thought made $83.3 million, its international numbers at just $65 million are disappointing. Good word of mouth will hopefully keep this movie on solid ground in the coming weeks.
Deadpool 2– In just two weeks it’s made over $207 million domestically. This weekend, it takes in $42.7 million.
Avengers: Infinity War – Comic book juggernaut collects $16.4 million.
Book Club – Comedy makes $9.4 million
Life of the Party – Melissa McCarthy comedy has underperformed. It takes in $5.1 million and is barely cracking $40 million domestically.
Breaking In– Gabrielle Union flick earns $5.1 million.
Show Dogs – Canine feature makes $3.1 million
Overboard – Remake collects $3 million.
A Quiet Place– John Krasinski directed thriller is still ticking with $2.2 million.
RBG – It’s rare for a documentary to crack the top ten, and this project is one of this year’s box office surprises. $1.1 million.

Leave it to another comic book movie to unseat another comic book movie off the box office throne, as Deadpool 2 beat Avengers: Infinity War with a $125 million weekend. Avengers: Infinity War was hardly a slouch, though it came in a distant #2 with $26.6 million. Book Club had a solid opening weekend with $12.5 million. Here’s the top 10:
Deadpool 2 – One wonders how many more sequels are left for the merc with a mouth, but considering the reception, Ryan Reynolds’ superhero job is safe for years to come. $125 million.
Avengers: Infinity War– A worldwide gross of $1.8 billion is highly impressive. It scores $26.6 million this weekend.
Book Club– It does good enough business with a $12.5 million debut.
Life of the Party – Melissa McCarthy comedy has performed sub-par with a total domestic gross of $31 million. It takes in $7.7 million in its second weekend.
Breaking In – Gabrielle Union thriller collects $6.5 million.
Show Dogs – This one is literally for the dogs, as it barely makes a dent with a $6 million debut.
Overboard – Comedy makes $4.7 million and to date it’s taken in $49 million worldwide.
A Quiet Place – John Krasinski directed sleeper is still ticking with $4 million.
Rampage – Dwayne Johnson headlined film has raked in over $406 million worldwide. This weekend it collects $1.5 million domestically.
Avengers: Infinity War continues its storied run with another first place finish, as it made $61.8 million. To date, the flick has taken in over $1.6 billion worldwide. Coming in second was newcomer Life of the Party which took in $18.5 million. This weekend’s top 10:
Avengers: Infinity War – Domestically, this blockbuster has made over $547 million. This weekend’s total is $61.8 million
Life of the Party – Melissa McCarthy has another hit on her hands with an $18.5 million debut.
Breaking In – With an estimated budget of $6 million, this flick does brisk business with $16.5 million.
Overboard – Remake takes in $10 million in its second weekend. It’s collected over $29 million domestically.
A Quiet Place– It’s the sleeper that continues to make money, as it amassed $6.4 million this weekend.
I Feel Pretty – Amy Schumer feel good comedy collects $3.7 million.
Rampage – Dwayne Johnson feature has yet to crack the $100 million mark stateside (it’s at $89 million). This weekend it rakes in $3.3 million.
Tully – Charlize Theron drama makes $2.24 million.
Black Panther – Marvel hit makes $1.9 million.
RBG – Documentary on Ruth Bader Ginsburg scratches top 10 with $19 million.
