‘Ocean’s 8’ Dominates Box Office With $41 Million Weekend

Powered by an all-star cast, Ocean’s 8 captured the top spot at the box office with $41.8 million. Trailing a distant second was Solo: A Star Wars Story ($15.1 million). Here’s this weekend’s Top 10:

  1. Ocean’s 8Sandra Bullock and company have a solid weekend with a $41.8 million debut.
  2. Solo: A Star Wars Story – To date it’s made over $176 million domestically. It collects $15.1 million over the weekend.
  3. Deadpool 2 – It’s another strong outing for Deadpool 2 with a $13.6 million take.
  4. Hereditary – Great debut for horror flick as it amasses $13 million in revenue.
  5. Avengers: Infinity War – This Marvel flick continues to keep ticking with $6.8 million.
  6. Adrift Shailene Woodley flick collects $5 million.
  7. Book Club – Comedy takes in $4.2 million.
  8. Hotel Artemis – Action film misfires with $3.1 million debut.
  9. Upgrade – Good reviews can’t save this movie from a poor box office showing ($2.2 million).
  10. Life of the Party Melissa McCarthy comedy rakes in $2.1 million.

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Retains Box Office Crown With $29.2 Million Weekend

Solo: A Star Wars Story was #1 at the box office once again with $29.2 million, with Deadpool 2 coming in a close second with $254 million. Even with its top status, Solo: A Star Wars Story has under performed (relative to previous Star Wars installments) with its current domestic take of $148 million. This weekend’s top 10:

  1. Solo: A Star Wars Story – It’s a solid film but for some reason it just didn’t light the box office world on fire. $29.2 million.
  2. Deadpool 2 – It makes $23.3 million and proves the franchise continues to do brisk business.
  3. Adrift Shailene Woodley flick debuts with $11.5 million.
  4. Avengers: Infinity War – Feature has collected over $642 million domestically. It takes in $10.3 million this weekend.
  5. Book ClubJane Fonda/Diane Keaton comedy makes $6.8 million.
  6. Upgrade – Action thriller has a weak debut with $4.4 million.
  7. Life of the PartyMelissa McCarthy comedy collects $3.4 million.
  8. Breaking InGabrielle Union thriller, which has made over $41 million domestically, makes $2.8 million.
  9. Action Point – Comedy makes $2.3 million.
  10. Overboard – Remake of the Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russell film makes $1.97 million.

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Is Box Office Champ With $83 Million Debut

Box Office numbers through Sunday places Solo: A Star Wars Story as the clear #1 with an $83.3 million debut, followed by Deadpool 2 with $42.7 million. Here’s this weekend’s top 10:

  1. Solo: A Star Wars Story – Thought made $83.3 million, its international numbers at just $65 million are disappointing. Good word of mouth will hopefully keep this movie on solid ground in the coming weeks.
  2. Deadpool 2 – In just two weeks it’s made over $207 million domestically. This weekend, it takes in $42.7 million.
  3. Avengers: Infinity War – Comic book juggernaut collects $16.4 million.
  4. Book Club – Comedy makes $9.4 million
  5. Life of the PartyMelissa McCarthy comedy has underperformed. It takes in $5.1 million and is barely cracking $40 million domestically.
  6. Breaking In Gabrielle Union flick earns $5.1 million.
  7. Show Dogs – Canine feature makes $3.1 million
  8. Overboard – Remake collects $3 million.
  9. A Quiet Place John Krasinski directed thriller is still ticking with $2.2 million.
  10. RBG – It’s rare for a documentary to crack the top ten, and this project is one of this year’s box office surprises. $1.1 million.

‘Deadpool 2’ Rules Box Office Roost With $125 Million Debut Weekend

Leave it to another comic book movie to unseat another comic book movie off the box office throne, as Deadpool 2 beat Avengers: Infinity War with a $125 million weekend. Avengers: Infinity War was hardly a slouch, though it came in a distant #2 with $26.6 million. Book Club had a solid opening weekend with $12.5 million. Here’s the top 10:

  1. Deadpool 2 – One wonders how many more sequels are left for the merc with a mouth, but considering the reception, Ryan Reynolds’ superhero job is safe for years to come. $125 million.
  2. Avengers: Infinity War – A worldwide gross of $1.8 billion is highly impressive. It scores $26.6 million this weekend.
  3. Book Club – It does good enough business with a $12.5 million debut.
  4. Life of the PartyMelissa McCarthy comedy has performed sub-par with a total domestic gross of $31 million. It takes in $7.7 million in its second weekend.
  5. Breaking InGabrielle Union thriller collects $6.5 million.
  6. Show Dogs – This one is literally for the dogs, as it barely makes a dent with a $6 million debut.
  7. Overboard – Comedy makes $4.7 million and to date it’s taken in $49 million worldwide.
  8. A Quiet PlaceJohn Krasinski directed sleeper is still ticking with $4 million.
  9. RampageDwayne Johnson headlined film has raked in over $406 million worldwide. This weekend it collects $1.5 million domestically.
  10. RPG – Ruth Bader Ginsburg documentary amasses $1.3 million.
