Michelle Williams Has All The Respect In The World For Ridley Scott

All The Money In The World

Michelle Williams initially carved out as a regular on Dawson’s Creek, and her eventual journey through cinema has yielded her four Oscar nominations (most recently a Supporting Actress nod in Manchester by the Sea). Williams, who can also be seen opposite Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman, was also a big part of this year’s news with the last minute reshoots of All The Money In The World.

Williams, who plays Gail Harris (the mother of John Paul Getty III) in All The Money In The World, thought the movie may have been a “lost cause” after the Kevin Spacey sexual harassment news. Director Ridley Scott, armed with a talented cast and crew, leapt into action and hired Christopher Plummer replace Spacey as John Paul Getty.

Whether it’s more intimate stories (Matchstick Men, Someone To Watch Over Me) or epic driven fare (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator), Scott is a supreme storyteller, and in the clip below Williams talks about her admiration for the filmmaker:

All The Money In The World, co-starring Mark Wahlberg, is now playing nationwide.

A New ‘World’ Record: Ridley Scott On His Lightning-Fast Reshoots

atm_09220_rAs news of Kevin Spacey’s sexual indiscretions surfaced, Ridley Scott knew he had a problem. The Academy Award-winning director had shot a new movie, All the Money in the World, with Spacey. But he realized that, in the current environment, releasing the movie with Spacey still in the lead role would leave the movie D.O.A. So Scott did the unthinkable — with less than three months before the film’s theatrical release, he reshot all of Spacey’s scenes, replacing him with screen legend Christopher Plummer. With the reshoots and the additional editing necessary, Scott somehow managed to finish the film on time, and when we spoke to him, Scott told us the finished product was worth all the additional effort.

Scott’s amazing accomplishment has not gone unnoticed by critics, who have given many accolades to the film and its new star, Plummer. All the Money in the World is playing in theaters now.

New ‘All The Money In The World’ Trailer Spotlights Christopher Plummer

All The Money in the World

Ridley Scott is a cinematic master when it comes to directing epic narratives (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven), so it comes as no surprise that replacing Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World was a seamless transition. Scott’s impressive feat, however, was to cut Spacey’s scenes as John Paul Getty, reshoot them with the revered Plummer, and also have this film ready by its December 22nd release date!! Scott, who celebrates his 80th birthday today, also released Alien: Covenant earlier this year (he also executive produced Blade Runner 2049)!!

The new trailer for the movie, which deals with the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) is below. Michelle Williams co-stars as Getty III’s understandably distraught mother and Mark Wahlberg is the man tasked by Getty at handling the situation.

Check out the trailer, which features the new scenes with Plummer, and tell us what you think!
