Critically Acclaimed ‘Detroit’ Hits Blu-Ray In December

Detroit, one of this year’s most critically acclaimed films, hits Blu-ray and DVD December 12 via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The project spotlights the civil unrest which impacted the city in 1967. A huge portion of the film details the Algiers Motel Incident in which police officers used abusive questioning tactics to several Black teenagers and a white woman. Dubbed the Detroit Uprising, the event claimed the lives of 43 people and led to the burning and looting of over 2,500 stores. Algee Smith (Earth to Echo), John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War) co-star in the feature.

Extras on both the Blu-ray and DVD versions include five featurettes (“The Truth of Detroit,” “The Cast of Detroit,” “The Invasion of Detroit,” “The Hope of Detroit,” “Detroit – Then and Now”) and the music video “Glow” (featuring Algee Smith and Larry Reed from The Dramatics).
