Lena Waithe is one of Hollywood’s hottest “triple-slashes” at the moment — she’s a writer (Master of None, Bones), producer (she created Showtime’s The Chi), and an actor. She stars in Steven Spielberg’s new cyberthriller, Ready Player One, and she told us this kind of brings things full circle for her. Why? Because, if not for video games, she probably wouldn’t have become a writer.
Ready Player One is now in theaters and The Chi, has been picked up for a second season in 2019.

With the Tomb Raider franchise being rebooted, Alicia Vikander takes on the Lara Croft role played by Angelina Jolie in the original movies. When it came to preparing for the role, though, Vikander had one big advantage over Jolie: She grew up playing the Tomb Raider video games upon which the films are based.
Dennis Quaid stars in I Can Only Imagine, a feature which delves into the genesis of the MercyMe’s inspiring hit song. Quaid plays Arthur Millard, the abusive father of MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard and inspiration behind “I Can Only Imagine.”
Quaid had a very straightforward way in dealing with the film’s tougher scenes. “In between takes I’d drop it like a hot potato and go into my trailer and watch whatever (was on) the satellite TV,” said Quaid. “Just drop it, and then go back to it. What we were going for was the truth. Bart was there on the set and we wanted to make it real for him more than anything.”

When you see the new comedy Game Night, you’ll see the cast – which includes Rachel McAdams, Jesse Plemons, Jason Bateman, and Lamorne Morris – having a lot of fun on the screen. Bateman told us the laughter was 100% genuine, because the movie brought together a lot of very funny people who had no problem cracking each other up on the set.
Game Night opens this Friday in theaters everywhere.
When we say Chadwick Boseman looks hot in his Black Panther superhero suit, we mean it. Literally. Boseman told us that — in terms of temperature — the Black Panther outfit is one of the warmest things he’s ever worn.
