WILL FERRELL DISCUSSES ‘EVERYTHING MUST GO’ AND NEW FILM WITH ‘HANGOVER’ STAR

mustgo1 Will Ferrell stars in the drama Everything Must Go as Nick Halsey, a recently fired salesman whose life takes an even further tumble after his wife leaves him.  Despondent beyond belief, Nick holds an epic yard sale to sell off all his possessions. Christopher Jordan Wallace is Kenny, a youth who helps Nick navigate his way through his current crisis.

“First of all, I just really thought it was one of the stronger scripts I had read in a long time,” said Ferrell about choosing the project.  “Dan Rush, the writer and director, had done such a remarkable job and I loved getting a chance to play a character like this, that’s a real piece of acting for me.  I also loved the unique premise of this movie.  I felt like to watch a guy be exposed and live his life in front of everyone was something I hadn’t seen before.”

ANGELINA JOLIE IS “VERY LUCKY” TO WORK ON ‘KUNG FU PANDA’ FILMS

fivepan Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black, and director Jennifer Yuh Nelson were at the Cannes Film Festival to promote Kung Fu Panda 2, which opens nationwide May 26th.  Jolie is back for the sequel as Tigress, a member of the Furious Five.

“I feel like I’m very lucky, we’re all very lucky to be a part of these animated films today, especially this one,” said Jolie.  “I feel very emotionally connected to this one and I think it’s quite beautiful.  And I think the messages are very strong.  It is important.  It takes so much talent for the directors and writers to make a film that makes the kids giggle and laugh, and get all excited about the action and it’s 3D and it’s beautiful. And then somehow underneath it they learn these pretty heavy life lessons.  And as a parent, that’s something  you want to be able to give your kids.”

Angelina Jolie was asked if having a female director for Kung Fu Panda 2 played a role in the growth of Tigress in the sequel.  Click on the media bar to hear Jolie’s response (Dustin Hoffman also is heard at the tail end of the clip).

‘MIDNIGHT IN PARIS’ THROUGH THE EYES OF WOODY ALLEN

woody3 Although New York has been Woody Allen’s lifelong muse, the filmmaker’s cinematic journeys to London, Barcelona, and now Paris prove that he is more than open to broadening his creative canvas.  His latest work, Midnight In Paris, was the opening night movie at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and at a news conference he described impression of the City of Lights.

“Paris is a very exciting city,” said Allen at a Cannes Film Festival news conference.  “I learned about Paris the same way all Americans do – from the movies.  I didn’t go to Paris until I was a grownup, until 1965.  When I went to Paris, it was the Paris I knew only from American movies.  And that’s the same New York City I’ve shown to people around the world in a picture like Manhattan.  It’s the Manhattan that I don’t see around me but the one that I recognize from movies.  This is the same thing in Paris.  I wanted to show the city emotionally.  The way I felt about it.  It didn’t matter to me how real it was or what it reflected.  I just wanted it to be the way I saw Paris.  Paris through my eyes.”

An avid movie buff, Mr. Allen elaborated on his love for foreign films.  “When I was a young man, my friends and I and those of us in New York were very influenced by French cinema,” added Allen. “We were influenced by European cinema in general.” (click on the media bar and listen to Allen elaborate on his appreciation of such French filmmakers as Rene Clair).
