SPOILER WARNING: If you do not want to know who won the first two parts of the Final Head of Household competition on Big Brother 28 or what is happening as the Final 3 wait for finale night, stop reading now. And while things have become pretty quiet inside the house, Melody blasts Drew’s game in her post-eviction interviews and we definitely have some thoughts about that.

Well… it’s quiet. Almost TOO quiet. After weeks of chaos, blindsides, powers, Veto drama and approximately 48 different occasions when we thought Drew was finished, the Big Brother 28 house has reached that inevitable point in every season where there simply isn’t much game left to play. But while the house is quiet, Melody has plenty to say about Drew’s game in her post-eviction interviews and one comment definitely got our attention.

Taylor has already won Part 1 of the Final HOH. Devens beat Drew in Part 2. That means Taylor and Devens are headed for the final showdown, while Drew has done something we’re not sure he’s particularly good at doing: waiting. LOL. Part 3 will determine the final HOH and, ultimately, who gets to choose the person sitting beside them in the Final 2. Until then, there isn’t another Veto to win, nomination ceremony to obsess over or replacement nominee to debate.

It’s the Final 3. This is what happens. The house gets quiet. Fortunately for us… the jury members are still talking.

Melody blasts Drew’s game after leaving the house

We knew Melody and Drew had a complicated relationship inside the house. Friends? Absolutely. Allies? Usually. Frustrated with each other? Approximately every 14 minutes. And after leaving the house, Melody hasn’t exactly been shy about discussing him.

While speaking about Drew in an exit interview, Melody acknowledged that Drew ultimately has to be considered a great player because he’s made it this far, but she also said parts of his game are difficult for her to respect.

Then came the line that got our attention: “I feel like he just doesn’t have a backbone, ultimately.”

Okay, Melody. We’re going to need to talk about that one.

Melody blasts Drew, but Mr. 48 Lives is still there

Look, nobody can accuse us of pretending Drew played some flawless strategic masterpiece. PLEASE. We’ve criticized this kid all season. He played different sides of the house, made promises that came back to haunt him, trusted people we weren’t sure he should trust and made decisions that left us staring at the feeds wondering what on Earth he was thinking.

But… he’s still there. Drew is in the Big Brother 28 Final 3. He won competitions when he absolutely needed them. He survived the block. He won the Final 4 Veto, giving himself the sole vote to evict, and personally decided whether Dee or Devens would join him and Taylor in the Final 3.

His game was messy. Sometimes VERY messy. But “no backbone”? We’re struggling with that one.

Especially considering what Melody admits about their relationship

Here’s what makes it particularly interesting when Melody blasts Drew’s game. While talking to Parade about her complicated relationship with Drew, Melody acknowledged that there were multiple occasions when she wanted Drew out of the house and wanted to vote him out. She said Drew was “all over the place,” made her angry and hurt her game at times.

Asked how far she would have taken him, Melody admitted she didn’t know. Depending on how things unfolded, she could have taken him to Final 2 or voted him out.

Meanwhile, Melody acknowledged something pretty significant about Drew: he never nominated her and never voted her out. When TV Insider asked Melody why she remained loyal to Drew despite some of the things he did that she viewed as betrayals, she called him her closest ally and specifically acknowledged that he never put her up and never voted her out.

Think about that. The person Melody says she sometimes struggled to trust was also someone she believed wouldn’t nominate her or vote against her. That’s not exactly an insignificant relationship in Big Brother.

And when Melody’s game finally ended at Final 5, Drew actually voted to keep her. So while we’re certainly willing to criticize Drew’s game, Lord knows we’ve done enough of that ourselves, we’re also going to give the guy credit when he deserves it.

Melody criticizes Drew but admits where she struggled

Here’s another reason we’re not ready to dismiss Drew’s game. While discussing her game and her relationship with Drew with Us Weekly, Melody acknowledged that competitions were a major weakness for her.

That’s refreshingly self-aware. Melody understood plenty of what was happening around her. We’ve given her credit for that throughout the season. But recognizing what needs to happen and obtaining the power to make it happen are two different things.

Drew? When his game was literally hanging by a thread, the kid kept winning. That’s why we started calling him Mr. 48 Lives in the first place.

Then there’s THAT kiss

Oh boy. If you thought Melody was finished talking about Drew… nope.

While talking to Us Weekly about why their season-long flirtation never turned into a showmance, Melody explained that Drew irritated her frequently and said she wasn’t going to “reward bad behavior” with a kiss. She added that he annoyed her and “he didn’t deserve it.”

OUCH. Somewhere inside the Big Brother house, Drew just felt something and doesn’t know why.

But before anybody turns this into something nastier than it is, Melody also said some genuinely sweet things about Drew. She called him awesome, said he made her Big Brother experience great and made clear that she wants to continue being his friend outside the house.

So this isn’t Melody saying she hates Drew. Far from it. It’s apparently more like: You’re awesome. You’re my friend. You drove me completely insane. Honestly? That might be the most accurate description of their entire relationship.

And what about Drew and Melody outside the house?

This is another area where we want to be accurate because Melody’s various exit interviews have produced slightly different headlines. Asked by Us Weekly what might happen with Drew outside the house, Melody didn’t completely slam the door. She said she had “absolutely no idea.” She emphasized that neither of them wanted a showmance inside the house and said she wants to remain friends with him.

In a separate interview with Men’s Journal, Melody discussed whether she and Drew were ever more than friends and said she couldn’t speak for what Drew wanted, but she was completely okay with them remaining friends and wanted to stay close to him.

And that’s where we’re leaving THAT one. Who Melody dates, kisses or doesn’t kiss is entirely Melody’s decision. We’re not arguing with her about any of that. Drew isn’t owed a kiss. He’s not owed a relationship.

But when it comes to his Big Brother game? Ohhhhh, THAT we can debate.

We have to defend Drew a little

Here’s our problem with reducing Drew to somebody without a backbone. He survived. Again. And again. And again. So when Melody blasts Drew’s game, we understand some of her criticism, but we also have to look at where Drew is sitting right now.

That doesn’t retroactively turn every bad decision into a brilliant one. It doesn’t mean Drew suddenly played a perfect social game. He didn’t. But Big Brother isn’t a competition to see who can play the prettiest game. You have to survive long enough to reach the end.

Drew survived.

And Melody deserves credit too

We’re having fun with Melody here, but let’s not rewrite her season either. She reached the Final 5. She eventually won HOH and took her shot at Dee and Devens. And even in her exit interviews, she has been willing to acknowledge some of her own shortcomings, particularly her struggles in competitions.

She also made clear that despite all her frustration with Drew, she genuinely values their friendship. So we’re not declaring Melody bitter. She lived in that house with Drew for 77 days. If anybody earned the right to say the guy annoyed her… SHE DID.

We’re simply pushing back on one particular assessment of his game.

Melody blasts his game, but Drew is still sitting in the house

That’s ultimately where we land. Was Drew’s game messy? YES. Did he make questionable decisions? Absolutely. Did he drive Melody crazy? Apparently more than we even realized.

But Drew is still inside the Big Brother 28 house. Melody is on the jury.

And that doesn’t mean Drew automatically played a better overall game than Melody simply because he lasted longer. Placement alone doesn’t settle every argument about strategy. But it does make us pause before dismissing how Drew got there.

The guy survived when he needed to survive. He won when he needed to win. He reached the Final 3. And now, ironically, there’s nothing he can do.

Back inside the house… yep, still waiting

And that brings us back to today’s thrilling live-feed update: not much is happening. That’s what happens at this point in Big Brother. The giant house that once held an entire cast is down to three people, the first two Final HOH competitions are finished, and everybody knows the next truly consequential moment comes with Part 3.

Taylor has her Part 1 victory. Devens has his Part 2 victory. Drew has no more competitions available to save himself. Now we wait for Taylor vs. Devens.

The winner gets the final HOH. The winner chooses who sits beside them in the Final 2. And then the jury, including Melody, gets the final say. Which means there’s a pretty funny possibility here. After Melody blasts Drew’s game in her exit interviews… she might still have to decide whether to give him $750,000.

Oh, Big Brother. Please never change.
