The Voice Night 3 Recap begins with the answer to the cliffhanger everyone was waiting for. After earning a four chair turn on Night 2, Lexi Stephens finally had to choose between Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green.

Adam had another option. He could use his First In button and take the decision away from Lexi.

He didn’t.

Instead, he trusted his pitch.

That gamble paid off when Lexi chose Adam Levine.

She later admitted that she had entered the competition thinking about Kelly Clarkson as her coach. Adam managed to completely change her mind.

With that decision settled, The Voice Night 3 moved on to six new Blind Auditions.

The Voice Night 3 Recap resolves the Lexi Stephens cliffhanger

Night 3 began by finishing what Night 2 started.

Lexi Stephens had impressed all four coaches with “Die on This Hill.”

Adam Levine had been especially aggressive in trying to win her over. He talked about the soul in her voice and even suggested she could go all the way in the competition.

Still, Adam resisted using his First In button.

Lexi ultimately chose him anyway.

Backstage, she revealed that she had originally been leaning toward Kelly Clarkson. Adam’s pitch changed her thinking.

That gave Team Adam a major addition before the first new audition of the night even began.

The Voice four chair turn gives Kyle Davis four choices

The first new singer of The Voice Night 3 didn’t exactly ease the coaches into things.

Sixty one year old Kyle Davis performed “In Your Eyes.”

All four chairs turned.

Kelly Clarkson connected with the storytelling quality in his voice. She especially liked the rasp and emotion he brought to the song.

Adam Levine praised the emotional side of the performance and recognized how difficult the song can be to sing.

Riley Green believed Kyle had exactly the kind of voice that deserved to be heard on the show.

Queen Latifah also made it clear that she thought the four chair turn was deserved.

Kyle had all four teams available.

He chose Kelly Clarkson.

The Voice Blind Auditions reunite Kenna Elpers with Riley Green

Twenty three year old Kenna Elpers performed “White Horse.”

Her audition earned turns from Queen Latifah and Riley Green.

Latifah heard some nerves but also heard enough potential to turn quickly.

Green could relate to the nerves himself. He tried to connect with Kenna over the pressure that comes with performing.

Then things became much more personal.

Kenna reminded Riley that she had once opened for him on tour. She also remembered him throwing a beer koozie her way.

This time, she returned the favor by giving him one of hers.

Then she made the reunion official.

Kenna chose Riley Green.

Morgan Lett gives Queen Latifah another win

Twenty seven year old Morgan Lett took on “I’m Goin’ Down.”

Once again, the audition became a battle between the two new coaches.

Both Queen Latifah and Riley Green turned.

Adam Levine watched from the sidelines as the newcomers fought for another singer.

Green was impressed by the range Morgan showed.

Latifah liked that Morgan didn’t simply copy a familiar version of the song. She made musical choices that pushed the performance in her own direction.

That approach worked.

Morgan chose Queen Latifah.

Brooklyn Marie joins Team Kelly

At just 14 years old, Brooklyn Marie became one of the youngest singers in the Season 30 Blind Auditions.

She performed “traitor” and earned turns from Queen Latifah and Kelly Clarkson.

Adam Levine admitted afterward that he regretted not turning.

Latifah was impressed by how much emotion Brooklyn brought to the song while also playing guitar.

Clarkson focused on something she has mentioned several times this season.

She enjoys working with young singers who still have a sense of freedom in the way they approach music.

That pitch worked again.

Brooklyn chose Kelly Clarkson.

Conor Pederson leaves The Voice Night 3 without a chair turn

Not every singer made it through The Voice Night 3.

Twenty six year old Conor Pederson performed “Mercy,” but none of the coaches turned.

That didn’t mean they had nothing positive to say.

Queen Latifah liked the control in his voice.

Riley Green thought timing issues were holding him back.

Adam Levine suggested that Conor might be better served by stripping things down if he returns. An acoustic song could give the coaches a different look at his voice.

For now, Conor’s journey ended at the Blind Auditions.

The Voice First In button sends Amanda Mikkel to Team Adam

The final audition in our The Voice Night 3 Recap delivered another four chair turn.

Thirty one year old Amanda Mikkel performed “Moon River.”

Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Riley Green all wanted her.

Adam quickly pointed out that he had turned first. He also praised the purity in Amanda’s voice.

Clarkson focused on the determination it took for Amanda to continue chasing her dream.

Latifah connected with the different musical places Amanda took the song.

Green believed Amanda had a future ahead of her regardless of what happened on the show.

Then Adam made his move.

As Queen Latifah continued making her pitch, Adam decided he wasn’t taking any chances.

He used the First In button.

That automatically secured Amanda Mikkel for Team Adam.

The Voice Season 30 teams after Night 3

After three nights of Blind Auditions, Kelly Clarkson leads her team with six artists.

Team Kelly includes Brianna Cameron, Brooklyn Marie, Hazel Gerson, Johnnie Kapua, Koumba Diallo and Kyle Davis.

Riley Green has five singers.

His team features Caroline Alexis, Ferryn and Brinkley, Harmony McKee, Joe Henley and Kenna Elpers.

Team Queen Latifah also has five artists.

They are Alt Bloom, BigCountry, Marcus Ladden Jr., Mia Knight and Morgan Lett.

Meanwhile, Team Adam Levine has four singers.

His roster includes Amanda Mikkel, Destinee Monroe, Lexi Stephens and Owen Uffens.

Three nights into Season 30, the veterans and newcomers are already trading wins.

The First In button has changed several team decisions. Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine also came away from The Voice Night 3 with major additions.

That wraps up our The Voice Night 3 Recap, but the Blind Auditions are far from finished.

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8/7c on NBC and streams on Peacock.
