Tulsa King Season 4 is putting everything Dwight Manfredi has built in jeopardy.
Sylvester Stallone has spent three seasons building Dwight’s criminal empire in Tulsa, but the new season may force him to fight harder than ever to keep it. Paramount+ has announced that Tulsa King Season 4 will premiere Friday, October 16, bringing Stallone back as the New York mobster who turned an unexpected move to Oklahoma into an entirely new operation.
Judging by what Paramount+ is teasing about the new episodes, Dwight won’t have much time to enjoy everything he has built. This time, he is attempting something that could prove even more difficult than creating his empire in the first place: legitimizing it.
Unfortunately for Dwight, trouble isn’t going to wait around while he tries to make that transition.
Dwight Manfredi faces enemies from every direction
In Tulsa King Season 4, Dwight will be dealing with corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies and a crushing personal loss as he tries to protect both his operation and the people around him.
Those challenges will also force him to confront some uncomfortable questions about loyalty, leadership and exactly how much his ambition has cost him. That creates particularly interesting territory for a character who has spent much of the series relying on the instincts he developed on the streets of New York.
Dwight arrived in Tulsa after spending decades in prison and quickly discovered that the world and even the criminal organization he once serve;had changed dramatically while he was away. Instead of quietly accepting his new circumstances, he started building something of his own.
Now, his attempt to move that empire toward legitimacy could pull him right back toward the life he has been trying to leave behind. The harder Dwight pushes forward, the more the new season appears ready to force those old street instincts back to the surface.
Eventually, Tulsa itself becomes the battleground.
The Tulsa King Season 4 cast brings back familiar faces
Sylvester Stallone once again leads the Tulsa King cast, with plenty of familiar faces returning alongside him.
The Season 4 ensemble includes Martin Starr, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Frank Grillo, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, James Russo, Kevin Pollak and Neal McDonough. Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany are also returning.
There will also be a new addition to Dwight’s increasingly complicated world. Gretchen Mol joins Tulsa King Season 4 as a series regular.
With that many characters surrounding Dwight, one of the bigger questions will be who he can actually trust as the pressure starts closing in. If the first three seasons established anything, it’s that Dwight rarely gets the luxury of dealing with only one problem at a time.
Tulsa King Season 4 asks what Dwight’s empire is really worth
The idea of Dwight trying to legitimize his operation gives the fourth season an intriguing new direction.
Building power is one thing. Holding onto it while attempting to change what that power represents is something entirely different. Paramount+ says every hard-won gain will bring even harder truths about loyalty, leadership and the cost of ambition.
That could make Tulsa King Season 4 about more than Dwight defeating another enemy. It may also force him to decide exactly what kind of leader he wants to be and what he is willing to sacrifice to protect the empire and people around him.
Of course, this is still Tulsa King, so chances are those questions will come with plenty of confrontations and reminders of why underestimating Dwight Manfredi remains a very bad idea.
