Spoiler warning: Major Big Brother 28 spoilers are ahead, including the outcome of the medieval twist. Well, that aged quickly. Earlier Saturday, we published our Big Brother 28 Saturday Power Rankings and warned that Sunday’s medieval twist could make the entire thing look ridiculous. Apparently Big Brother didn’t even have the courtesy to wait until Sunday. These BB28 Spoilers arrived a whole lot faster than we expected.
The Big Brother live feeds returned Saturday, Haley Thogmartin’s picture was grayed out on the memory wall, and our No. 7 player was suddenly gone from the game. So much for scientific accuracy. We knew those rankings had an expiration date. We just didn’t realize it was going to be measured in hours.
And Haley wasn’t the only surprise waiting for us when the feeds came back. Former houseguest Keanu Soto was also inside the Big Brother 28 house as part of the Big Brother 28 medieval twist, giving us another mystery to figure out. So yes, we have questions. A lot of them.
BB28 Spoilers reveal Haley is gone
Let’s start with the biggest development. Haley’s game is over, giving us the first major Big Brother 28 elimination coming out of this unusual medieval stretch.
Exactly how she was eliminated is the part we’re still waiting to see play out on Sunday’s episode. This wasn’t a normal Big Brother week with an HOH making nominations, a Veto competition and a BB Blockbuster deciding who ultimately faced the vote. The Big Brother 28 medieval twist threw the regular structure out the window, and somewhere during all of that, Haley became the player whose game came to an end.
Does losing Haley completely change the direction of the season? We don’t think so. That’s not meant as a knock on her. Haley won an HOH and a BB Blockbuster, made it deep enough into the game to survive some pretty ugly weeks and had recently been maintaining relationships with Dee Valladares and Angela Murray.
But she wasn’t controlling the house. She wasn’t the piece holding the Icons together or the player everyone else was organizing their entire game around, and her departure doesn’t suddenly remove the larger battle we’ve been watching develop between the people in power and the houseguests who want to break that power apart. There may be a little less fighting, possibly a little less pettiness and, okay, maybe considerably less pettiness at times. Strategically, though, we don’t look at the final nine and think Haley’s departure alone completely rearranges the board.
BB28 Spoilers leave a big Keanu Soto question
Now this part of the Big Brother 28 twist fallout has our attention.
We knew Keanu Soto was connected to the medieval twist after he appeared alongside Britney Haynes, Tiffany Mitchell and Cody Calafiore when the event was revealed during the 1,000th episode. We also learned that Keanu had been the Mystery Competitor tied to an unused Time Capsule power earlier in the season. That power never came into play, but production apparently wasn’t finished with him.
And now we’re watching the Big Brother live feeds and there he is inside the house. What we aren’t going to do is pretend we know exactly what that means yet. Did Keanu compete in something? Did he host part of the medieval event? Was he involved directly in determining who survived? Were all four returning players given different roles? We don’t know yet.
That’s what makes Sunday’s episode interesting even though one of its biggest outcomes has already been spoiled. We know Haley is gone, and we know Keanu is there. Now show us how the heck those two things connect.
The Big Brother live feeds blackout still doesn’t sit right with us
And this is where we’re probably going to sound like the grumpy live-feed viewers that we are. Look, producers have a job to do. They’ve produced 1,000 episodes of this show. That’s an enormous accomplishment, and we’re not pretending putting together Big Brother is easy. Production wanted this medieval twist to feel different, they wanted Sunday’s episode to have surprises, and they obviously believed the Big Brother live feeds blackout was the best way to make that happen.
We understand the reasoning. We still don’t like it.
The live feeds are part of what makes Big Brother Big Brother. This isn’t a normal reality show where everything happens months earlier and viewers only see whatever eventually makes the edited episode. Part of the experience is watching the game develop in real time. We see conversations that never make television, watch alliances form and collapse, and occasionally see somebody create a brilliant plan at noon before abandoning the entire thing by dinner.
That’s the show, which is why cutting the feeds during a major game event and essentially telling the people who follow this stuff obsessively to wait for the edited television version just feels wrong to us. The Big Brother live feeds blackout took away one of the things that makes this game different in the first place.
Especially now. The feeds came back Saturday anyway. CBS had originally told viewers to expect them after Sunday’s episode, but the return was moved up, meaning the blackout ultimately didn’t even preserve Haley’s elimination until airtime. So we’re sitting here knowing Haley is gone, we’re looking at Keanu inside the house, and guess what? We’re still watching Sunday. Of course we are. Which makes us wonder again: did we really need to lose the feeds in the first place?

We would like the record to show that we tried. Really. We ranked all 10 houseguests based on everything we knew when the feeds disappeared, put a giant disclaimer on the whole thing and practically begged Big Brother not to embarrass us too quickly.
Then the feeds came back and our No. 7 player was gone. Beautiful. Real opinions. Real analysis. Zero scientific formula. Apparently we should have added: results may expire before dinner.
Still, Haley’s departure doesn’t make us want to throw everything we said away. The bigger Big Brother 28 twist fallout questions are what happened during those missing days and what the remaining nine do next. Who has power? Who got closer during the blackout? Who came out of the twist angry? Did somebody make a deal we know nothing about? And most importantly, what exactly did Keanu do while he was in there?
The Big Brother live feeds are back, and we’re watching. After these BB28 Spoilers made our Saturday rankings old news in a matter of hours, we’re probably not making any more bold predictions tonight.
