How ‘Kill Bill’ Stretched Uma Thurman’s Acting Abilities

Uma Thurman earned an Oscar nomination for her work in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, so, when Tarantino needed a strong, accomplished actress to star in his epic Kill Bill, he knew exactly who to turn to. The role — a former assassin who seeks vengeance on a team of ex-colleagues who tried to kill her — was a particularly demanding one, both in its emotional complexity and the types of stunts she would be required to do. Of course, the movie wound up being split into two halves that were filmed together, so it was a long, grueling shoot as well. Speaking at the time of the first film’s release, Thurman talked to us about how Kill Bill was more difficult than anything she’d done before. (Click on the media bar below to hear Uma Thurman)
