Idris Elba and producer Will Packer have a working relationship that stretches back to 2005, when Elba appeared in the Packer-producer film The Gospel. Since then, they’ve made five more movies together, including their new one, the thriller Beast. Genre-wise, it’s a far cry from anything else they’ve done together; as Elba says he was shocked when Packer approached him with the script, but once he got on board, he really started to appreciate the nuances that he says sets the film apart from other films with similar plots.
