The Matrix was nothing short of a phenomenon when it was originally released in 1999, with its futuristic themes and revolutionary camera techniques. And, of course, it was a big enough hit to spawn two immediate sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. Eighteen years after those two sequels were released, the franchise has returned with The Matrix Resurrections, with the key players — Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss returning to their original roles. Why is there still a big enough demand for The Matrix that another sequel was warranted? Reeves isn’t sure there’s just one reason, because he can think of many.
