2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street earned Leonardo DiCaprio his fourth Academy Award nomination as an actor, as well as a Best Picture nomination as one of the film’s producers. (He would finally win that elusive Oscar with 2015’s The Revenant.) In The Wolf of Wall Street, he played a role based on a real-life stock broker who used corruption, deception, and fraud to make a fortune in the stock market. As you can imagine, the character wasn’t exactly a likable one, yet DiCaprio still turned him into a compelling one. How was he able to do it? DiCaprio told us how he approaches these kinds of roles.
