Although the Academy Award sitting on Lady Gaga’s mantle came from her musical contribution to A Star is Born, she also earned an Oscar nomination for her acting performance in that movie. That was not an insignificant feat for a woman whose experience in front of the camera had primarily come from music videos, along with a pair of small roles in Robert Rodriguez films. But Ridley Scott, who cast her as his lead in the new film House of Gucci, says it’s not surprising at all that she’s earned those kinds of accolades, because he sees her as someone who has tapped into an actor’s emotions every time she’s taken the stage in her other career as a Grammy-winning pop singer.
