There’s plenty of top-line talent involved in NBC’s latest live musical project, a staging of the 1977 Broadway classic Annie, including Taraji P. Henson, Nicole Scherzinger, and established Broadway stars Tituss Burgess and Megan Hilty. Harry Connick Jr. has the plum role of Daddy Warbucks, and Connick — a multi-hyphenate performer who’s won both Grammy and Emmy Awards — told us why he’s so excited to be part of the special one-time-only broadcast. There is, of course, a relative newcomer in the cast — Celine Smith, the young actor cast as the little orphan Annie. Though she’s had some musical experience and some limited TV experience, this is Smith’s first opportunity to work on such a high-profile project, and she talked to us about being completely in awe of the people she’s been working with. Annie Live! airs tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
