Before The Movie, John Cleese Was A ‘Clifford’ Newbie

The Clifford book series about the notorious big red dog has resulted in sales of more than 120 million copies of its 80 titles over the past 58 years, but apparently that notoriety hasn’t made its way across the pond, so to speak. Because when John Cleese was approached to play a role in the new big-screen adaptation, Clifford the Big Red Dog, he admits he was completely unaware of both the books and the character!
