For most shows, the almighty Nielsen ratings are the indicator of whether it’s doing well or not. But This Is Us is not like most shows. Milo Ventimiglia says that all of the drama’s stars would have known it was a hit even if there were no ratings, because they couldn’t go out in public without running into people who wanted to talk about the show and how its stories mirrored their own.
