If you ask Al Pacino to describe himself, chances are he won’t use the word “director.” Yes, he has four directing credits — two dramas based on stage plays, a “making of” documentary, and a documentary about Shakespeare. But these projects have certainly given him an appreciation for the world-class directors he’s worked with, such as The Irishman director Martin Scorcese. So when Pacino does look back at his time behind the camera, he’s thankful for the education he got and the way it’s helped shape him into a more complete Hollywood professional. The Irishman is now playing in selected theaters, but will begin streaming November 27 on Netflix.
