Cousins Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Stephen Amell (Arrow) know a thing or two about playing superheroes, so now the pair are producing and starring in Code 8, a feature that may pull from their own experiences of the genre.
The narrative centers on Connor Reed (Robbie Amell), an impoverished man who is trying to pay for his ailing mom’s (Kari Matchett) health treatment. In the Code 8 universe 4% of the population is born with supernatural abilities, but instead of being superheroes they are shunned by society and often end up leading a life of crime to make ends meet.
Connor is eventually lured into a crime world headed by Garrett (Stephen Amell), the right hand man of a powerful drug lord named Marcus Sutcliffe (Greg Bryk).
As Garrett helps Connor hone his powers to execute Sutcliffe’s criminal operations. a militarized police unit headed by Agent Park (Fast Five’s Sung Kang) and Agent Davis (Aaron Abrams) tries to take down the crime ring.
The picture is an expansion of Jeff Chan’s 2016 short of the same name (Chan is the director of the feature). Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
Code 8 hits theaters and On Demand December 13.
