Rare are the television shows that get to end their runs on their own terms. Most of the time, a show’s network determines when the show will finish, either through cancellation or a “final year renewal.” But The Good Place is different. Even though it’s still a relatively young show, just going into its fourth year, the producers made the conscious decision to bring the story to an end before the show overstayed its welcome. Of course, the cast and crew love the show and might have hoped it would stay on the air longer, but a very emotional Ted Danson is nevertheless convinced that they’re doing the right thing. The final season premiere of The Good Place will air Thursday, September 26 on NBC.
