Given what happened to his character on This Is Us, you might think Milo Ventimiglia would have been a little reluctant to make a movie that paired him with a dog. But that’s exactly what he’s done, starring alongside a golden retriever (with the voice of Kevin Costner) in the new film The Art of Racing in the Rain. It’s a story about a race car driver who struggles with difficulties both on and off the track, and yes, the dog who helps him get through the tough times. Ventimiglia told us it was the theme of the movie — how easily life can change and how difficult it can be to adapt — that attracted him to the project. The Art of Racing in the Rain opens in theaters on August 9.
