When the original version of The Lion King was in development, lyricist Tim Rice famously told Disney that his dream partner on the project would be Elton John, “but you’ll never get him.” Spoiler alert: They got him. (Alright, it’s not exactly a spoiler, since John’s version of Can You Feel The Love Tonight? won both an Oscar and a Grammy in 1995.) John’s music was so important to the film that, when it came time to remake the movie, he was brought in once again to help update the old songs and add new ones. He was happy to do it; as he told us, he’s proud to be associated with the movie because he loves its messages so much. (Click on the media bar below to hear Elton John)
The Lion King is now playing in theaters everywhere.
