Elton John made a reputation for himself back in the 1970s as the most animated and flamboyantly colorful rock musician of his era. His costumes are legendary, and he’s kept most of the outfits he’s worn over the course of his 50-year touring career. In fact, last year, London’s prestigious V & A Museum hosted an exhibition featuring many of his best-known ensembles. Even on his farewell tour, John had a collection of clothes designed especially for him by Gucci. When we spoke to the rock icon, we asked him why the clothes have been such a big deal to him.
