While the Marvel Comics Universe has gotten plenty of attention for its movies lately, it’s easy to overlook the fact that it’s existed on television, too. Now starting its sixth season, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. provides a little bit of backstory for the MCU, along with telling stories all its own. (For example, we saw some early S.H.I.E.L.D. action in Captain Marvel, with Nick Fury and Phil Coulson working together back in the ’90s.) Clark Gregg, who has played Coulson both on the TV show and in some of the Marvel films, will be playing a different character (Sarge) in the new season of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he says it’s been a little strange for him to do a reset after all these years as Phil. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Friday nights at 8/7c on ABC.
