George Clooney’s new miniseries, Catch-22, is based on the Joseph Heller novel, which was already adapted into a feature film by legendary director Mike Nichols back in 1970. On this version, Clooney is not only acting, but also handling executive producing and directing duties as well. As he was preparing for the series, Clooney watched the Nichols movie and had no problem doing a bit of borrowing. But he was so excited about doing the project, he had no idea coming up with plenty of his own inspiration, too. (Click on the media bar below to hear George Clooney)

Catch-22 premieres May 17 on Hulu.
